Christ the King College Onitsha was filled with joy on Sunday, November 23, 2025, as the college celebrated its patronal feast and played host to the Chief Shepherd of Onitsha Archdiocese, cum proprietor of the college.
The spectacular event witnessed the laying of the foundation for new teachers’ quarters, the commissioning of a new laundromat, and the administration of the sacrament of confirmation.
In a welcome address shortly after the mass, the college rained accolades on the Archbishop for visiting and also congratulated the prelate on his 72nd birthday, describing it as 72 years of grace and exceptional leadership.
The address highlighted the recent achievements recorded at the college, stating that the school has continued to flourish academically, physically, and otherwise. It was disclosed that an immediate past student of the college scored 330 in the last JAMB, while others did well, with more than 70 of them securing admission into higher institutions.

It was also stated that the students of the college performed wonderfully well in the 2024 AVOSCO sports activities and competitions in Anambra State and beyond.
Responding, the proprietor extolled the principal and teachers for their doggedness, which is manifesting in the exceptional academic success the college is garnering. He recalled that last year, the college emerged as the Most Outstanding Private School in Africa and received an award in Zimbabwe this year.
He expressed joy that the college is sustaining a culture of excellence, explaining that the fame of CKC has resurfaced again under the administration of Rev. Fr. Dr. Celestine Arinze Okafor. He pledged to reward the best-performing teachers in each subject with N100,000.
The prelate instantly doled out one-year scholarships to students who read the address and the one who answered questions correctly at the Mass. He said, “We look forward to a time when a large number of students of CKC will have 9 As in all subjects. Dream it, practice, persevere, and back it up with prayers.”
The school principal, Rev. Fr. Dr. Celestine Arinze Okafor, in his speech, appreciated the Archbishop for the visit and commended him for his usual magnanimity and support to the college. He testified that those who work under the Archbishop achieve greatness.
He thanked Mr. Peter Obi for donating N50,000,000 towards the teachers’ quarters project. He also thanked Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa (APGA National Chairman), Dr. Mrs. Vera Nwadinobi (ASUBEB Chairman), Hon. Tony Nwora, and others for gracing the occasion.
Others he commended were the alumni (Old Boys of the College), the teachers, and the parents for their support towards the development of the school.
The Chairman of Onitsha North LGA, Hon. Nweze Tony Nwora (Mayor), who spoke to the press, congratulated the college for its high performance, urging them to sustain the tempo.
Also, the PTD chairman of the college, Hon. Paschal Aniebonam, in his contribution, expressed satisfaction about the quality of education and morals the college is imparting to their children.
