Joy filled the air on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at Holy Spirit Parish, Omagba, Onitsha, as parishioners gathered to pay homage to the Chief Shepherd of Onitsha Archdiocese, His Grace Most Rev. Valerian Okeke, who paid them a one-day pastoral visit.
The spectacular event witnessed the confirmation of 783 candidates
During the Holy Mass, Archbishop Okeke emphasized the importance of deepening one’s faith in God through prayer, reflection, and acts of kindness.
“A strong faith in God enables Christians to navigate life’s challenges with confidence and hope,” he said.
“A just man lives by faith. With faith, God cannot be asleep in your problems. Faith is a sign of confidence in God, a sign of trust in the unlimited power of God.”







In a welcome address, the Catholic community eulogized the Archbishop for his visit, highlighting their recent achievements, including sponsoring the Silver Jubilee celebration for their parish Catechist, Mr. P.C. Okoye, controlling erosion around the parish compound among other things.
Responding, the Archbishop commended the parish priest, Fr. Augustine Ezenwelu, for his commitment and dedication.
He also appreciated the parishioners for their efforts and welcoming disposition, enjoining them not to relent.

The parish CMO Chairman, Prince Kennedy Ewuzie, and Vice Chairman Parish Council, Mr. Ifeme Jonathan, expressed joy over the visit, describing the Archbishop’s prayers as liberating the Catholic community.
The Parish CWO President, Mrs. Adaoma Nwoye, saw the visit as a huge blessing to the parishioners, praising the parish priest for his commitment.
The high point of the event was the blessing of a new Toyota Camry car donated to Catechist P.C. Okoye during his Silver Jubilee celebration.
