Clergy, religious and lay faithful of the Catholic Diocese of Zaria were at St Joseph Minor Seminary, Zaria, Wednesday, October 1, 2025, to pray for the country Nigeria as she marks her 65th independence. Prayers were also offered for the diocese, families, groups and individuals as well as the works of their hands.
Presiding over the Mass who was preceded by Rosary Procession, the Vicar General of the Diocese, Very Rev. Fr. Michael Pius Kagarko prayed that Mary the Patroness of Nigeria, may continue to intercede for the country and her citizens.
Delivering the homily at the Mass, Rev. Fr. Nache stated that the role of the Blessed Mother in the Church, the family of God cannot be overemphasized. He explained that the Church celebrates the Solemnity of Our Lady the Queen of Nigeria, linking her queenship to the kingship of Jesus her son.
Fr. Nache prayed that, in her role as the Queen of Heaven and Earth, the Queen-Mother may provide comfort to the faithful in times of distress, and lead the nation, Nigeria, closer to God, through her exemplary life of faith, humility and love.
