A mourning mood pervades the entire atmosphere of the Catholic Archdiocese of Onitsha as the sudden death of one of it’s young and vibrant priests,Rev Fr Anthony Izuu Okoye is announced.
Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Onitsha,Rev Fr Prudentius Aroh who broke the sad News said the late Fr Okoye died in the early hours of Sunday, September 28,2025.
According to the Chancellor,”Fr Okoye was admitted to Borromeo Hospital on Saturday evening but was called to eternal rest by the Lord in the early hours of Sunday, September 28,2025″.
Until his death,Fr Okoye was the manager of St Anthony Group of Schools,Umudioka,Anambra State.
With his death,the Umudioka Catholic community has also been thrown into deep mourning.
The late Fr Okoye was ordained priest of the Catholic Archdiocese of Onitsha on 12th July,2014.
He would be remembered as a dedicated priest and educationist who left behind a legacy of faith,service and commitment to the formation of youths.
A statement from the Archdiocese said his funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course.
May his gentle soul rest in peace.
