In an event marked in thanksgiving to God and modesty,business mogul and one of the early popular players in delicious bread making and confectioneries South East of Nigeria,Sir (Chief) T O Chiegboka of the Adams Bread fame,celebrated his 92nd birthday at the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity,Onitsha on Sunday.
He was accompanied by members of his family which included his children and numerous grand children,friends and well-wishers.Some of his fellow knights of the Order of Knights of St Mulumba,Nigeria extractiion were also present.
The officiating priest at the thanksgiving Mass,Rev Fr John Ezeanowai described Sir Chiegboka as a self-made man,a good Catholic,selfless, a philanthropist and one who has great fear of God.
According to fr Ezeanowai,Sir Chiegboka has remained a disciplined and consistent father who brought up his family and ensured that his family has remained intact and successful despite the loss of his dear wife along the line.
He offered special prayers and blessings for Chief Chiegboka and members of his family and urged his children to continue to look after their father who has attained the enviable age of a nonagenarian.This was followed by generous donations to the Parish Bazaar flag-off by Chiegboka’s children and grandchildren in appreciation of the Lord’s doing to their father/grand father.
During a reception at his GRA residence Onitsha,Sir Chiegboka received and entertained friends, well-wishers and above all,dozens of Block Rosary Marian Society children.
Some priests from Ekwulobia Diocese notably,Rev Fr (Professor)Chiegboka was present.The Director of the Pontifical Mission Society (PMS)Sister Benet Ezeokoli was also present.
The celebrant Sir Chiegboka in a brief comment,expressed gratitude to God for the gift of long life in good health and sound mind.He thanked all who came to celebrate with him, wishing them long life and thanked his children and grand children for organizing the birthday thanksgiving.
Highlight on the event are cutting of the birthday cake,cultural dances by Block Rosary kids and presentation of gifts to the celebrant.
