Husbands have been charged to treat their wives with love and care they deserve. Chancellor of the Catholic Diocese of Zaria, Very Rev. Fr. Augustine Isek gave this charge, when he represented the Bishop, Most Rev. Dr. Habila Tyiakonaboi Daboh at the Mass for the International Fathers’ Day Celebration and that of the 3rd Convention of Catholic Men Organization of Nigeria (CMON), of the diocese.
Delivering the homily during the Mass that held in The Good Shepherd Parish, Graceland, Zaria, on the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity, Sunday, June 15, 2025, the priest reminded the husbands of the command to love their wives. He referenced the love of God the Father, in catechizing that, it is in the office of the father to love and that, God the Father so loved the world, to the extent of offering His Only Begotten Son for the redemption of mankind.
His words, “God is love. The Father is love. Remember you are love. You have to love your wife. Forget about the shouting. Take it easy on your wife. She needs your presence. Pamper her. When she shouts, calm her down. When she shouts too much, buy her a gift. Carry your family along. This is how we can keep our families in peace.”
However, Fr. Isek reminded the husbands and fathers of their offices in their homes – as the gatekeepers and people of authority, who should stand for their families, carrying them along, and ensuring the maintenance of a healthy prayer pattern, so that they enemy does not penetrate their homes,
