President Bola Tinubu, represented by Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo, officially launched construction of Phase 2B of the second Niger Bridge road link.
The Governor performed the flag off at Ogbunike (33 Nkwelle Junction) along the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway, Oyi Local Government Area.
This 35-kilometer road will stretch from the Umunya/Ogbunike axis of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway, passing through the Old Enugu Road Interchange, Ogidi, Nkpor-Umuoji Road Interchange, Obosi Atani to the Asaba-Ibuzor Road Interchange and Valley Bridge, significantly improving connectivity and impacting the lives of Anambra residents.
The project, featuring seven flyovers and a 35-46 meter wide carriageway, is a joint Federal and State government initiative.
Works Minister Dave Umahi highlighted the road’s benefits for travelers from Lagos and beyond, noting its inclusion of cameras and solar-powered streetlights.
He confirmed the release of 30% mobilization funds to the contractors, CGC Nigeria Limited.
Umahi praised Governor Soludo’s leadership and urged continued support for both the President and the Governor.
Governor Soludo emphasized the public good aspect of the project, highlighting the maximized benefits for Anambra citizens through this collaboration.
He thanked President Tinubu for his commitment and encouraged continued support to secure further development for the State.
Carlos Chen of CGC Nigeria Limited assured timely completion, adhering to international standards.
Traditional leaders also expressed their anticipation for the project’s completion and the resulting benefits to the community. A large crowd celebrated the project launch.
