The Onitsha Region of the Catholic Men Organisation (CMO) on Saturday hosted a meeting of all the regions in the Archdiocese comprising Dunukofia,Nnobi,Iyiowa and the host region,Onitsha.
The meeting which was presided over by the President General of the Catholic Men Organisation (CMO) Archdiocese of Onitsha,Sir Hon Evarist Uba was graced by the presence of the Onitsha Archdiocesan CMO chaplain,Rev Fr Sampson Ogbuebuna and Rev Fr Joseph Umeasiegbu
The meeting started with a Mass presided over by Rev Fr Sampson Ogbuebuna,assisted by Rev fr Francis Umeasiegbu.
While delivering his sermon,Fr Umeasiegbu drew the attention of CMO members that the church was celebrating the birthday of the Catholic Church’s Lateran Basilica in Rome which has remained one of the biggest and greatest temples and legacies of the church.
He reminded CMO members that as Christian fathers,they are temples of God and that if they understood that they are also bodies of Christ,answering their prayers by God become easier.
He admonished fathers to make prayers part of their lives and endeavor not to be divided in their attitude to prayers.
The President General of CMO, Archdiocese of Onitsha,Sir Hon Evarist Uba while reviewing activities of the CMO,urged members to keep track of the organisation’s commitment to erect a library at the Shanahan University,Onitsha and for all parishes to update all their dues and other financial commitments to the Archdiocese.
Sir Uba spoke on the Archbishop’s 71st birthday where he said,the CMO congratulated him with an Advertorial on Trinitas Newspaper with some CMO representatives in attendance during the birthday celebration at the Correctional Centre,Onitsha.
He expressed reservations on the poor attendance of members during the CMO crusade held recently and at thesame time expressed hope that future programmes would be better.
The President General said the crusade provided opportunity for CMO father’s to learn from a lecture on the evils of Neo-paganism and for them to hold fast unto their faith and discourage their wards from sliding back to paganism.
The Secretary General of the CMO, Archdiocese of Onitsha,Hon Casmir Izukanne read the minutes of the past meeting while the Onitsha Region President of the CMO Mayor Kyrian Okudo and other regional presidents briefed the meeting of their activities one after another.
One of the major highlights of the meeting was the gifting of 4 less privileged CMO members with new CMO uniforms.The gesture was sponsored by the Deputy President General of the CMO,Bro Azuka Chukwunonyelu.
While handing over the uniforms to the beneficiaries,the President General Sir Hon Evarist Uba commended his deputy for his benevolence.He appealed to other well meaning members of the organisation to emulate his deputy by being their brother’s keeper even as he pointed out that others including him,have been giving out free uniforms to less privileged members.
