As the new Rector of the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity,Onitsha, Very Rev Fr JohnBosco Ezika assumes office as the 3rd Rector of the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity,Onitsha,many parishioners who met him for the first time are receiving him warmly.
On Sunday,October 27,2024,the Rector celebrated 8:30am Mass at the Basilica where he preached commitment in discipleship of Jesus and strong faith in God.
Reflecting on the Biblical story of blind Bartmeau who upon many distractions,beckoned on Jesus Christ even without seeing him,Fr Ezika pointed out that the story of the blind man taught the faithful three things namely;faith,healing and discipleship.
There’s need he said,for the faithful to have the benefit of faith so they can be saved.
“We cannot be playing trial and error and say we are practicing faith.We have to pray always and not abandon prayers when God hears our prayers.Our prayers have to be constant”, he insisted.
Fr Ezika stated that our conception should not be to abandon God when we get what we wanted but must be constant and committed in our discipleship.
After the Mass,some of the parishioners came close to the Basilica Sacristy to greet their new Rector or to have a close glimpse at him.
He blessed them while others exchanged banters with him and wished him well.
Recall that Very Rev Fr Ezika was the Episcopal Vicar of Nnobi Region and also held other positions in parishes.
He hails from Alor in Idemili South local Govt Area of Anambra State.
