Ahead of the Anambra 2025 gubernatorial election, a coalition of 46 Obidient Support Groups has formally endorsed Valentine Ozigbo as their candidate.

This coalition, which includes prominent groups such as the Peter Obi Support Network, Women for Peter Obi, Take Back Naija, Nigeria Needs Peter Obi, and the Coalition for Peter Obi, has rallied behind Ozigbo, citing his extensive experience and visionary leadership as key reasons for their support.

The endorsement, made public on August 22, 2024, reflects the collective will of the Obidient Movement, a movement born from the ‘New Nigeria’ initiative, which aims to ensure that credible and competent leaders take the helm in Nigeria.

The group’s leaders stated, “Valentine Ozigbo stands out as a beacon of hope for Anambra.”

They highlighted Ozigbo’s impressive track record, particularly during his tenure as President and Group CEO of Transcorp Plc, where his transformative projects earned him international acclaim.

The coalition expressed dissatisfaction with the current administration under Governor Chukwuma Soludo, stating that their analysis found him lacking in key areas of leadership and service delivery to Ndi Anambra.

In contrast, they believe that Ozigbo’s commitment to youth development, community building, and good governance aligns closely with the values of the Obidient Movement.

The statement was signed by six key leaders of the Obidient Movement, including Maazi Tochukwu Ezeoke, Mrs. Ebere Obiesie, Ezeokoli Blessing, Kingland Ezeani, Chigozie Ifeanyichukwu, and Ikenna Mbanefo, reaffirming their dedication to seeing Anambra State led by an “authentic leader” who embodies their ideals.

With this endorsement, the Obidient Support Groups have pledged their full resources, networks, and energies to ensure Valentine Ozigbo’s victory in the November 2025 election, signalling a robust and organised push towards what they envision as a brighter future for Anambra State.

The full statement by the Obidient leaders is published below.

For Immediate Release

August 22, 2024

Peter Obi Support Network, Women for Peter Obi, Take Back Naija, Nigeria Needs Peter Obi, Coalition for Peter Obi, Up-North Ambassadors for Peter Obi and 36 Other Support Groups Endorse Valentine Ozigbo for Anambra 2025

–A Call for True Leadership in Anambra 2025: Obidient Support Groups Take a Stand

United in purpose, we, the leaders and members of 46 diverse Obidient Support Groups, including the influential Big 6 – Peter Obi Support Network, Women for Peter Obi, Like Minds For Peter Obi, Take Back Naija, Nigeria Needs Peter Obi, and Coalition For Peter Obi, stand firm in our endorsement of Valentine Ozigbo for the upcoming Anambra 2025 gubernatorial election.

The Obidient Support Groups, a coalition of independent democratic activists, is dedicated to advocating for good governance in Nigeria. Our mission, which originated as the ‘New Nigeria’ movement, is to see Nigeria led by credible and competent political leaders who can bring about transformative change in our nation.

Regarding the November 2025 gubernatorial election in Anambra State, the Obidient Support Groups has conducted a thorough analysis of the political landscape. We have evaluated the administration of the incumbent Governor Chukwuma Soludo and found him wanting in several aspects of leadership and service delivery to Ndi Anambra.

Valentine Ozigbo stands out as a beacon of hope for Anambra. A consummate politician, business leader, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, Valentine Ozigbo brings over thirty years of experience in corporate transformation, power, hospitality, energy, banking, and philanthropy. His remarkable achievements, including his tenure as the President and Group CEO of Transcorp Plc, where he led transformative projects and garnered international recognition, demonstrate his capacity for visionary leadership.

Val Ozigbo’s commitment to youth development, community building, and good governance aligns perfectly with the values of the Obidient Movement. His campaign for a better and brighter Anambra has already inspired a wide breadth of Ndi Anambra, and we believe he is the right leader to steer Anambra State towards a prosperous future.

The Obidient Support Groups hereby endorses Valentine Ozigbo as the next governor of Anambra State. We pledge our resources, networks, and entire energies to actualising our dream of seeing Anambra State in the hands of an authentic leader.

Signed:

  1. Maazi Tochukwu Ezeoke
  2. Mrs Ebere Obiesie
  3. Ezeokoli Blessing
  4. Kingland Ezeani
  5. Chigozie Ifeanyichukwu
  6. Ikenna Mbanefo
