BY REV FR GERALD NWAFOR

The Supreme Court has obliterated the PDP (People’s Democratic Party). Atiku Abubakar has destroyed ADC (African Democratic Congress). Bola Tinubu and his cabals have mismanaged Nigeria. And finally, Peter Obi has moved on to NDC. If you are not touched by any of these events, you are a god or a beast.

In January 2026, I bought a bag of cement for 9,800 Naira. This is May 2026, a bag is being sold for 12,000 Naira, the locals would say, “Minus transport.” That is how bad the economy is right now. Anyway, the political horse trading is on, and some political players are overreaching themselves. A close look at the political terrain of Nigeria today will reveal to you that the biblical injunction, “Many are called, but few are chosen,” is a divine statement. How can you explain to me that Atiku Abubakar wanted to shortchange Peter Obi for whatever reason other than being greedy? We were all happy that Peter Obi found a home in the ADC. We said that the aim is to overthrow the bad government of APC, only for the so-called arrowhead (Atiku) to have in mind plans to cage Peter Obi and render him politically irrelevant. I did not believe Atiku from the get-go when they wanted Peter to join their ADC.

I warned about the reptilian nature of Atiku. Today I have been vindicated.
In a few weeks, we shall see who the goat will follow (Onye kpu-igu ka ewu nae so.) In a few months, we shall know ‘who is who’ in the political landscape. ADC, in their dream, allowed Peter to leave; the fate of the Labour Party (LP) awaits them. I have deregistered myself from ADC, now I am registering for NDC (Nigeria Democratic Congress). NDC has become the newest bride in the political movement in Nigeria. I do not believe that Atiku and Kenenth Okonkwo are naïve of what is going on in Nigeria today, but my brother Late Barrister William Nwafor (Mikas) would always say that when money speaks, bullshit listens. I could not imagine in my wildest dream that Kenneth Okonkwu would abandon Peter Obi for anything. What did Atiku give to Mr. Kenneth Okonkwo (aka Andy Okeke) that changed him so much that he would speak ill of Peter? Money has spoken, and the real Kenneth revealed himself. I do not want to believe that Kenneth is still living in bondage after all we did to set him free from that movie that threw him into the limelight (Living in Bondage, 1992-93). Please, Mr. Okonkwo, can you see the light or will you regret your decision forever?
A police officer from the Northern part of Nigeria killed a young boy in Edo state in public.

The officer summarily executed the young boy in public while the boy was begging for his life. We witnessed it thanks to the video recorded by the people standing around the scene. My question is simple: the officer is from Northern Nigeria, working in Edo state (South-south) of Nigerian geopolitical zone, but he tattooed on his body a name from Igbo extraction “OGBAEGBE?” Why not a Northern name, or a name connected to Edo State? Thanks to God, he was taken alive to explain why he used an Igbo name to tattoo his skin. Now people are pushing that he has Igbo blood, but from my little investigation, he has nothing to do with Igbo people, not even to the 5th generation. Should I thank the police for arresting him and discharging him? No, I will not. Simply, because I know that if not for the video record and social media outcry, he would have been promoted for killing a criminal.

Anyways, I heard that the president is flying out of the country, who knows how long that will be, since he has a pattern of spending 200 days out of the 365 days in a year outside Nigeria? On the other hand, I heard that when he heard that Peter Obi had joined NDC from ADC, he cancelled his flight. Whether he stays in Nigeria or travels overseas, France mostly Peter Obi is going to NDC and must be on the ballot come the 2027 presidential election. Peter Obi is a phenomenon, a movement, and an enigma. I read a commentary by Dele Rotimi, which will wake us up. He said “Tinubu called Atiku a thief, Atiku called Tinubu a thief, but neither of them has called Peter Obi a thief.” So why is Tinubu not afraid of Atiku but afraid of Peter Obi? There is something the political class is not willing to share with us. We cannot sell our birthright for a pot of porridge anymore. I do not know what 2027 will turn out to be, but I know who to trust and who to be wary of. The way things are going now, Raph Nwosu will be crying out his eyes for giving Atiku and David Mark a chance. They have destroyed his political party.

Finally, there is a patriarchal homogeneity going on in the politics of Nigeria. I heard that the children of retired and serving politicians are getting into politics in their numbers. The sons of Pius Anyim, Buhari, Umahi, El Rufai, and Atiku are all in the political contestation come 2027. Are we going to be slaves of the political class forever? It will not work. The Igbo wise tale narrates:
The hunter brought in the parrot from the wild to breed it so that it would multiply and the hunter would make money from selling its offspring. The parrot refused to mate and refused to produce babies. The hunter pleaded with the parrot to at least lay an egg. The parrot said, “It is enough that we have been captured and enslaved by captors. I do not intend to give birth to babies that will be enslaved forever.” So, the parrot died without giving birth.
Hence, someone should inform the political class that the plan to foist their children on us will not work because we are grown-ups now. The wind of change is blowing, and the air of glory is on the way. We have moved to NDC with Mr. Peter. The Obidient movement has no party; we only have a principal, which is Mr. Peter Obi. There was a local song that states that “many things de happen for Nija.” We know that many things are happening, but we should focus on the most important thing, which is the politics of 2027 and the election of Peter Obi into office in 2027.
