The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Awka, Most Rev. Paulinus Chukwuemeka Ezeokafor, has expressed confidence in the quality of individuals produced by St. Johnbosco Seminary, Isuaniocha. Speaking during the Feast and Parents’ Day celebration at the seminary, the Bishop emphasized the Catholic Church’s commitment to forming priests through rigorous training from an early stage.
He highlighted the importance of instilling proper moral and academic values in children, explaining that because the Church desires the best, it begins training its priests from a young age. Addressing the seminarians, he urged them to see themselves as privileged to receive their formation in such a serene and structured environment, noting that such opportunities are rare.
The Bishop has consistently spoken on the relationship between a person’s learning environment and their mental development, maintaining that a disordered environment often results in a disorganized individual.
The event was well attended, drawing notable figures, including the former Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, who was represented by an alumnus of the seminary and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of SABOBA, Barrister Val Obienyem, as well as the Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh.
