Valentine Ozigbo, a prominent politician and former governorship candidate, has announced his resignation from the Labour Party, signaling the beginning of what he describes as a new chapter in Anambra’s political landscape.
Ozigbo made the announcement on Monday at a State Executive Committee meeting of the Labour Party in Awka, where he formally submitted his resignation letter to his ward chairman. He emphasized that his decision was guided by a commitment to a greater vision for Anambra State.
“In making this decision, I first informed His Excellency Peter Obi, as a mark of my deep respect for his leadership and the principles we have shared on this journey,” Ozigbo stated. “I equally notified the National Chairman.”
His departure from the party comes amid what he described as a defining moment in history—one where choices shape the future. Ozigbo reaffirmed that his political journey has never been driven by personal ambition but by a deep belief in Anambra’s potential and the need for leadership that inspires and serves the people.
“Recent events have made one thing clear: the time has come for us to build something new, something bold, something that speaks to the hopes and aspirations of every Anambra son and daughter,” he said.
While he did not disclose his next political move, Ozigbo made it clear that he is embarking on a new path that transcends party affiliations and focuses on the collective progress of the state. He described this transition as a moment of renewed strength and boundless possibilities.
“To those who believe in this vision, stand firm. To those who have walked this journey with me, stay resolute. Because what lies ahead is bigger, brighter, and more powerful than anything we leave behind,” he declared.
With an impassioned call for unity and transformation, Ozigbo affirmed his continued dedication to the people of Anambra, promising that his new political movement would usher in real change.
“Our work is just beginning. The fire for a better Anambra burns stronger than ever. And together, we will rise, we will build, and we will win,” he concluded.
As political observers speculate on his next steps, one thing is certain—Ozigbo’s decision marks a significant shift in Anambra’s political dynamics, setting the stage for what could be a major realignment ahead of the state’s next political cycle.
