As measures towards transforming Onitsha South Council Area to a smart mega city,

The Transition Committee Chairman of Onitsha South Local Government Area, Hon. Joseph Emeka Orji has reiterated commitment towards aligning with Governor Soludo’s agenda in building a livable and prosperous smart mega homeland.

Hon. Orji made this remarks why responding to accusations levied against him by some yet to be identified mischievous makers who choose to fight him in the manner due to his refusal to dance to their tune or carryout their biddings on the course of carrying out his duties as Local Government Chairman.

According to Him, the demarketing and unverified claims and account are part of the effort by some envious and dubious persons who seek to blackmail and distract his efforts in restoring sanity and progress in the entire Onitsha South Council region.

The Chairman affirmed that there was no such accounts or plans to harass or intimidate any resident of the Council Area and noted that the reports flying around the social media are orchestrated handiworks of mischief seekers and fraudulent developers who are against the success and development of the Onitsha South Council Area.

Hon. Orji went further to issue a stern warning to the callous individuals and their cohorts who hides under the aegis of concerned citizens or residents of the council area and connive with unprofessional publishers to propagate and publish unverified claims against the Local Government Authorities to desist from further incriminating act or else they be declared enemies of the State.

Highlighting his achievements, he noted that line with Governor Soludo’s directive on recovery of government lands and properties in private hands, his administration has succeeded in recovery many land, which includes the land occupied by MTI Complex by Damija Avenue Housing Estate (Bridge Head 2) Fegge.

The closing down of Julius Berger site office was also effected due to non payment of year’s of Local Government levies which has totalled to hundreds of millions naira.

NIWA park and other lands belonging to the Local Government that sold and illegally occupied by Banks and industries, Life Brewery and others were also recovered.

“On the orders of the Anambra State Governor Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo to remove any building/structures built on and along drainage/flood channels which is obstructing free flow of water ways and drainage systems, my team has carried out some demolition of illegal structure at Portharcourt Road Fegge Onitsha that was built on drainage/flood channels.

“Also for encroaching on government space and have issued order to Polaris Bank at Onitsha Express Way by Premiere brewery’s bypass fegge to remove their illegal structure encroaching on Sakamori channel.

“The demolition allows the passage of excavator machine for the desilting/clearing and evacuation of blocked drainages, the Chairman stated.

“I have also gone ahead to facilitate the Beautification of Onitsha-Asaba Express Way, from Head brigde and mobilized the relocation of Urban Boys Secondary to Ugborimili Primary School in order to build a General Hospital, since we had only one functional General Hospital at Onitsha North LGA.

“I have given two months notice pig farmers to relocate their piggies between June to August 31. From 1st September, hence, any pig seen in and around Onitsha South will be confiscated due to the menace they contribute in environment pollution and noisance.”

Other notable works carried out by my administration includes, Beautification of roundabouts, triangles, gardens, and green vegetation around Onitsha South, beautiful of Onitsha South Local Government complexes, with tying up to over 3000 square meters of compound with concrete slabs which is first in the history of Council Area, Construction of multi billion naira new oduigbo section in Ochanja Market which is currently ongoing, Palliative works on the major access roads and Introduction of one-way system in busy areas of the Council Area.

“We have also fixed bolehole water supply system, installed new solar power system, completed the ICT building and fixed all the toilet systems in the Local Government complex. Reconstruction of culverts by some of the CEOs in Onitsha South using their CSR. and the section by section, planting of trees in Onitsha South Council Area is currently ongoing as we speak as well as the rehabilitation of Primary and Secondary Schools,” Hon. Orji stressed.

He went further to affirm that drastic steps will be taken to put an end to any irregularities that may have occurred on the part of the Local Government officials discharging their duties that might have given rise to the misunderstanding and challenge and called on stakeholders to support the State government and local government campaign of building a more united, secured, livable and prosperous Onitsha South Council Area.
