Members of the Board and Senate of the new Shanahan University,Onitsha,are set to inaugurate the university on Monday,14th October 2024, for immediate commencement of academic studies in the university.
Information reaching Trinitas News Desk says the inauguration will commence with a Thanksgiving Mass to be presided over by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Onitsha,Most Rev Valerian Okeke at the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity Church billed for 10am.
The Vice Chancellor of the university Rev Fr (Professor)Joseph at Obi Oguejiofor is expected to lead other members of the university community including the new students to the inauguration.
Trinitas investigation reveal that already,some of the pioneer students have lodged in their hostels in readiness for the inauguration and academic work which is expected to commence on Tuesday,15th October 2024.
It would be recalled that the Metropolitan Archbishop of Onitsha laid the foundation stone of the Shanahan University on 8th February,2020 at it’s permanent site, Trans-Nkissi layout,Onitsha,where presently,various construction works are in progress.
Recall also that on 16 May,2023,the federal government through the Federal Executive Council (FEC),approved the university.
On the 9th of June 2023,the Archbishop received the operating licence of the university.He was accompanied by members of the Board and Senate of the university,His Royal Majesty,Obi of Onitsha Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe,Senators Victor Umeh and Tony Nwoye,the Chairman,Shanahan University Construction Project Very Rev Fr Basil Ekwunife,Engr Ikem Osanakpo,Chief Cletus Ibeto among others.
Proprietor of the university, Archbishop Valerian Okeke has maintained that,”Shanahan University stands for integrity, truthfulness,positive revolution and excellence.The aim of building this university is to use the institution to start a very positive revolution in this part of the world.Let it be a contribution this part of the world will give to humanity”.
