In anticipation and celebration of this year’s forthcoming Mothering Sunday, Senator Dr. Tony Nwoye has donated 25,000 Catholic Women Organisation (CWO) and Mary Sumner uniforms to Catholic and Anglican women across Anambra North Senatorial District.
The beneficiaries include members of the CWO from Onitsha Archdiocese and Aguleri Diocese, as well as Anglican women from four dioceses: Diocese on the Niger, Ogbaru Diocese, Niger West Diocese, and Niger East Diocese.
While presenting the uniforms, Senator Nwoye said he was inspired by an elderly CWO member who once approached him for assistance in getting the uniform so she could dress like other women at meetings. Moved by her appeal, he decided to provide the uniforms for both Catholic and Anglican women, ensuring they would be distributed for free.
He encouraged the women to remain vocal against poor leadership and societal issues, emphasizing their role in shaping families and communities.
In addition to the uniforms, Senator Nwoye also gifted a Toyota Corolla to Chief Ossy Chinwuba, a respected community leader and former House of Assembly member, in appreciation of his dedication and service.
Women leaders from both denominations expressed gratitude, offering prayers for the senator in appreciation of his generosity.
