The Senator representing Anambra Central, Senator Dr Victor Umeh OFR who is the Chairman of Senate Committee on Diaspora and NGOs, and Vice Chairman Senate Committee on Land, Housing and Urban Development on Tuesday visited the headquarters of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) in Abuja to further discuss the fate of owners of houses in Abule-Ado areas of Festac Town, Lagos state which have been under demolition.
Concerned about the huge losses and the outcry over the ongoing demolitions in Abule-Ado, Senator Victor Umeh had earlier intervened in the Senate and also engaged the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa through the Senate Committee on Land, Housing and Urban Development (where he is Vice Chairman) on the need to halt the demolition exercise and to conduct proper investigation.
However, Senator on Tuesday proceeded to the headquarters of the FHA where he had useful and fruitful deliberations with the Managing Director of Federal Housing Authority, Senator Gbenga Ashafa and the General Manager, Zonal Coordination of FHA, Barrister Hajara Kadiri towards resolving the Issues and halting further demolitions.
Part of the Resolutions was that Terms of Settlement will be worked out by the Federal Housing Authority which will be mutually beneficial to all concerned.
