Okpanam, Delta State – Father Andrew Mozia, a Catholic priest, challenged parishioners on Sunday to resist temptation, drawing parallels to Jesus Christ’s resistance of the devil.
Speaking during Mass at the Catholic Mass Centre in Maris Schools, Okpanam in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, he highlighted that while temptation is inevitable, yielding to it is a sin.
“No matter what you face, do not give in to temptation,” Fr. Mozia said. “Focus on faithfulness. The devil will test you with your desires, but remember, ‘man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.
“He cautioned the congregation to be vigilant, reminding them that all things belong to God and to seek guidance through confession.
“It is not a sin to be tempted, but it is a sin to give in,” he added. “Take your Lenten observances seriously and embrace the confessional.”
The Mass included the baptism of Anastasia Michael and Benedict Enyioko, and a thanksgiving service by the Catholic Men’s Organization (CMO), among other things.
