Pope Francis has introduced a financial incentive for Vatican employees with three or more children, reinforcing his commitment to supporting families. Beginning in January 2025, eligible workers under the Governorate of Vatican City State will receive a monthly bonus of €300 per household, amounting to €3,600 annually.
Announced by the Holy See’s Press Office on January 15, the initiative aims to ease the financial burden of raising children. The support will continue until children turn 18 or up to 24 if they are still in education, mirroring family assistance policies in several European nations.
In addition to the financial aid, the Pope has extended paternity leave for Vatican employees from three to five days, further strengthening efforts to assist working parents.
