Former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has called for a renewed focus on the values of hard work within the Nigerian church, suggesting that this shift is essential for the nation’s resurgence.
Speaking during the 68th Anniversary and 58th Annual Convention of The Gospel Faith Mission International (GOFAMINT) over the weekend, Osinbajo expressed concern that the church has increasingly prioritized messages of prosperity over the foundational principles of diligence and community service.
“For too long, our churches have been caught up in the pursuit of personal prosperity and material wealth, neglecting the true calling of the gospel to promote peace, unity, and the holistic development of our society,” Osinbajo remarked.
He emphasized that if Nigeria is to realize its vast potential, the church must return to preaching the values of hard work, compassion, and service.
“It is only through this shift in focus that we can inspire our people to become agents of positive change, rather than mere consumers of the prosperity gospel,” Osinbajo added.
He urged religious leaders to lead this transformation, believing it to be crucial for the nation’s progress and the fulfillment of its immense potential.
