A Nigerian Air Force aircraft has tragically crashed during a casualty evacuation mission. Initially reported to have taken off from Kaduna en route to Minna, Niger State’s capital, the aircraft’s true departure was from Zungeru Primary School in Niger State, headed towards Kaduna. The crash occurred in a village within Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.
Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, stated that the MI-171 helicopter went down around 1:00 pm in Chukuba Village on August 14, 2023. As of now, the number of casualties remains uncertain.
Rescue efforts are actively underway to aid the stranded crew and passengers. Preliminary investigations have also been initiated to ascertain the cause behind this tragic incident.
