In a significant operation, the Anambra State government took action to close down the Arrows of God orphanage after a thorough investigation by FIJ revealed that the institution had been involved in the illicit trade of selling babies. A newborn baby was among the 20 children liberated during this operation on Wednesday.
This development unfolded a mere seven days after ‘Fisayo Soyombo, the founder of FIJ, exposed the shocking truth about his personal experience of acquiring a baby by paying N2 million from Arrows of God.
FIJ presented an extensive written report detailing the nineteen-month-long investigation on Thursday, alongside an impactful documentary that was aired on Friday. Channels TV and News Central have already broadcasted the documentary, with News Central scheduling another airing on Sunday, August 20, at 6:30pm WAT.
The enforcement action was carried out by Ify Obinabo, Anambra State’s Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, who led security forces to seal off the orphanage located in Onitsha.
Reports reveal that a total of 20 children, including a newborn, were successfully rescued from the premises of the orphanage. However, the founder and staff members had fled and are currently evading authorities.
The age range of the rescued children varies from one to 17 years old, comprising ten boys and nine girls.
