As the 2025 election approaches, various individuals have begun to show interest in the coveted seat of Agu-Awka, riled by the continuous deterioration of security in Anambra State, which is triggering a massive movement of capital and investments out of the state. One of these individuals is Paul Chukwuma, a visionary leader determined to address the pressing issues facing the state.
Paul Chukwuma is a native of Umueri in Anambra East local government area. His father, a civil servant in the Water Corporation of the old Anambra State, travelled extensively across the state, allowing Paul to understudy the state’s dynamics at close range.
Paul spent a significant part of his life in Ekwulobia, where his family still retains a family house to date. He later headed to the Juniorate Seminary, Ihiala, for his education before pursuing a degree in Philosophy at the University of Nigeria, graduating with a first-class degree.
He went on to earn distinctions in his law program at Baze University and the University of Derby, specializing in Intellectual Property and Information Technology Law. Currently, Paul Chukwuma serves as the Pro-Chancellor of Olivia University, Burundi, and is a serial investor in the Nigerian educational sector, providing innovative technology solutions to enhance educational growth in Nigeria.
Paul believes that economic inequality and a negative ideological epidemic are fueling the insecurity in Anambra. He is convinced that addressing these underlying issues will significantly reduce insecurity in the state. Paul envisions Anambra as the commercial hub of the South East and the South, leveraging its vast human and financial capital.
Asked about his driving passion for Anambra, he retorts:
“Anambra needs its intellectuals to take over governance. For so long, we have allowed party sentiments to enthrone a leadership that is not at home to the people nor understand their peculiarities. I have spent a larger part of my life within the state, and I understand the people and its peculiarities. I think I have functional ideas that are bespoke for our state.”
As Governor, Paul aims to harness the state’s potential and create a secure, prosperous, and inclusive Anambra for all citizens, fostering economic growth, social justice, and a brighter future for generations to come.
