BY REV FR GERALD NWAFOR

I have watched in recent times the unification and so-called peace brokered between the Apapa and the Julius Abure factions of Labour Party (LP). I have come to believe more the old political saying that “In politics, there is no permanent enemy but a permanent interest.” I have listened to Arabambi who claimed to be the secretary of the Apapa faction of the LP who was speaking from the two sides of his mouth. Labour Party was a party filled with low-life people and sleazebags. Of the 6.1 million votes recorded by the Labour Party we know for a fact that 6 million came from the obidient family. The 35 house members and the 8 senators came out of obidient family. From the onset, the Government machinery has been planning on how to destroy the Labour party because they formed a credible opposition. The Yoruba element in the Labour party is the problem of the Labour party. Julius Abure has overstayed his welcome in the Labour Party but because he is not different from every other Nigerian politician he has decided to sit tight to the position of chairman of the party. Now, like a giant searching and struggling for survival, he went back to his vomit and reunited with the Apapa faction who wanted to destroy him only one year ago. I wish Julius Abure well with unification, but he should know that he is not the target but the bait for the target. They should know that Peter Obi took a bath with OGBONO and cannot be destroyed by their secret plan. If Peter dumps the Labour Party and moves on to a new party, the Labour Party will go back to the gutters. I am not a politician, but I know the danger when I see one. Peter should look at the Abure and Apapa reconciliation plan because there is more to it than meets the eye. The changing of political parties is not novel in the politics of Nigeria. Buhari moved from ANPP to CPC to APC before he won the presidency. Peter has moved from APGA to PDP to LP, so if he must move again for the soul of Nigeria, I would advise him to do so without much ado.Mr. Julius Abure who has been on the news for all the wrong reasons should know that the 3 billion Naira lawsuit against him is pending and the forgery allegations against him have not been quashed, therefore, he should tread with care on the land mines being set in front of him by the Apapa group in the name of unification. The spokesperson of the Apapa group, Mr. Arabambi, said on national television that they are unifying to kick the Igbo people out of the Labour Party. What is the crime of the Igbo people in the Labour party? They gave life to the party and out of the 8 senators in the Labour party 5 were Igbos and over 20 house members were Igbos from the 35. The Igbo states gave the Labour Party over 90% of their votes in the last election. Pundits have it that if not for the APC rigging machinery orchestrated by the INEC chairman Yakubu, Mr. Peter Obi of the Labour Party won the 2023 presidential election. One may ask why this hatred on the Igbos. In all the states in Nigeria, it was only in a Western state that government organizations came out against the Igbo and told them not to vote. These were recorded facts and played on national television and the government looked the other way because it favoured them. I have lived long enough to know that when you create evil to sustain power the doomsday will arrive and the evil you created will be your downfall. Look at the menace of the Boko Haram, bandits, and terrorists in the Northern part of Nigeria. The story of Chibok girls and these factors were created to show that Jonathan was not a good president. They succeeded in dethroning Jonathan, but terrorism, banditry, and Boko Haram have not been dethroned. The eight years of Buhari were bad but one year of Tinubu has no explanation in the contemporary dictionary of English lexicon. Therefore, Mr. Peter Obi should not be looking at how to rescue the Labour Party because they are irredeemable. In the discussion for merger with the other parties, Peter should avoid Abure, Apapa, Arabambi, and the like because those men are cancerous politically. Finally, the Igbo people should not listen to some politicians who think through their stomachs. I watched some of our elders who helped Abure to come to Anambra for the Party convention. Those elders should be avoided. The governor of Abia state should be ready to move away from the Labour Party when it is time to spring forward because the vehicle known as the Labour Party will soon grind to a halt. The Labour party of today has been hijacked by the APC machinery and the Tinubu government aimed to destroy all the opposition political parties in Nigeria. You can see the handwriting in Port Harcourt where the greed of the ex-governor is destroying a whole state; not only that the same person has made it impossible for the PDP to hold a convention and transfer the national Chairman of PDP to North-central. I have a message for the ruling party, the events of Kenya on the 25th day of June 2024 are not impossible in Nigeria, but the difference would be that the Nigerian type would not end in one day. On the other hand, we saw the handwriting of the federal government on the crisis in Kano, where the words of a governor were being disobeyed and the federal government police and security officials were protecting the deposed Emir. The constitution says chieftaincy title is not a right but a privilege. The constitution also stated that the chieftaincy title is a state matter and cannot be litigated in a federal court. The constitution says that the governor must appoint and depose an Emir, a King, or a Chief. One may ask, why is there a problem in Kano? Anyways our Judges have a problem with the English language because the word “AND” failed the litmus test in the Nigerian Supreme Court.
