Some top officials of the Knights of St Mulumba,Nigeria have continued to mourn the demise of one of it’s illustrious members,Sir Damian Okolo who died recently after a brief illness.
This is coming as a family source told Trinitas that the burial of Sir Damian has been fixed for April 12 2024.
Sir Damian held the position of Metropolitan Grand Knight,Onitsha Province after the expiration of his tenure as the Grand Knight of Onitsha Subordinate Council.
In his reaction,the former Metropolitan Grand Knight of KSM,Onitsha Province Sir Boniface Orakwe,said,”Bro Okolo was an exemplary Catholic Knight who held different positions in serving God through the Church. I succeeded him as Metropolitan Grand Knight and kept in touch with him all through for invaluable advice. May the Almighty God receive his soul in Heaven while rewarding his family for their support while he worked in the Lord’s Vineyard”.
In his own reaction,his immediate successor as a Grand Knight in Onitsha Subcouncil,Sir Ikem Osanakpo said,
“The news of his demise was shocking and sad. Beyond KSM he was a personal friend. I’m still managing to come out of the shock and therefore unable to talk much on his painful exit”.
Also,the incumbent Grand Knight of the KSM,St Michael SubCouncil Onitsha,Sir (Barr) Charles Orakwue said the following,
“Sir (Barr) Damian Okolo was an authentic Christ ambassador, a bold and courageous champion of faith and agent of positive exploits, change and transformation during his life. During and throughout the course of his tenure as a former Metro Grand Knight, Onitsha Metro council, he remained indomitable, indefatigable, worked assiduously , tirelessly and contributed immensely towards the progress, growth and expansion of the Metro council.
May his soul rest in peace”.
In his reaction,a renounwned Chartered Accountant and former President of Onitsha Chamber of Commerce,Sir Kevin Obieri lamented saying that, Okolo was a consumate professional that strode two Professions, law and estate surveying. According to him,he was a good Catholic and member of Knights of St Mulumba Nigeria and served as a Sub Council Grand Knight and Onitsha Metropolitan Grand Knight. He also served the Onitsha Archdiocese in many capacities especially as the Chairman of Oluchukwu Microfinance Bank Limited owned by the Archdiocese.
Obieri said,”I think he died a fullfiled man. We pray that God will give his family the fortitude to bear the loss”,he concluded.
Contributing,a senior member of KSM and business mogul,Sir T O Chiegboka,joined other GRA Onitsha residents in mourning of the demise of Sir Damian.He told Trinitas that he and Okolo were bosom friends even though that he (Chiegboka) was his elder but that he loved Okolo’s amiability,candour and professional excellence and also a devoted and reliable Catholic.
Sir Victor Orakwue (aka Altar Boy)who lives in thesame neighborhood with Sir Damian Okolo and also a senior member of the knights of St Mulumba,told Trinitas that he has not only lost a brother but a gentleman of immense quality.
He prayed for the peaceful repose of Sir Damian and urged members of his family to bear the loss with fortitude.
