The Order of the Knights of St Mulumba,Onitsha Metropolitan Council has admitted 22 new members and their ladies as well as a Priest into her Order in a ceremony which took place at St Theresa’s Catholic Cathedral Abakaliki,Ebonyi state.
The admission was conducted during a mass concelebrated by four priests led by Rev Fr Chidiebere Onyia assisted by the Cathedral Administrator,very Rev Fr Livinus Nweke,the Chaplain of Abakaliki Subcouncil of the Order Very Rev Fr Patrick Eko Otu-Ibe,and the Order’s Metropolitan Chaplain,Rev Fr Dr George Adimike who delivered the homily and also led in the spiritual admission of the new members.
The ocassion witnessed canvassing for funds towards the 50th Anniversary celebration of Abakaliki Diocese for which the Metropolitan Chaplain,Rev Fr Adimike conducted successfully with unexpected high financial returns to everyone’s admiration.
In thanking the priests and congregation of the church for receiving them,the Onitsha Metropolitan Grand Knight of the Order,Sir Boniface Orakwe,introduced Sir Calistus Eneh as his Deputy and Lady Constance Okolo as the Metropolitan President of the Ladies.
He explained that their Marian Order was founded in 1953 by the then Catholic Bishops of Nigeria to fight cultism, it’s menace and negative effects on the people especially Catholics.
Among other things,the joint Metropolitan Executive Council members of the Order had with their chaplain,paid a courtesy visit on the Catholic Bishop of Abakaliki Diocese,Most Rev Peter Nworie Chukwu.
The bishop in a remark described the KSM as an Order which stood by the church at all times and also a useful partner to his Diocese.
