The knights of St Mulumba,St Mary’s Subordinate Council,Onitsha,last Friday 18th August 2023 buried the remains of late Sir Fredrick Chukwuemeka Okolo (KSM) at his home town,Onitsha after a funeral mass at St Mary’s Catholic Church,Onitsha Inland Town.
The late Sir Fredrick Chukwuemeka Okolo died in London at the age of 94.
The late Sir Fred was the son of one of the early founding members of the knights of St Mulumba,Nigeria,Sir P H Okolo alongside the father founder,Rev Fr Anselm Ojefua.
Sir P H Okolo apart from being a household name in the old Onitsha Province was a renowned educationist who worked with early missionaries and joined forces with Rev Fr Anselm Ojefua,a monk,among other prominent individuals to found the knights of St Mulumba,Nigeria.
Sir P H Okolo facilitated allocation of a free parcel of land for erection of KSM national headquarters at Enweonwu street,Onitsha.
Sir Fredrick Okolo who took after his father in the knighthood became a role model and dedicated himself to selfless services to the church and humanity.
Delivering a sermon at the funeral mass,the Episcopal Vicar,Onitsha Region and Parish Priest in charge of St Mary’s Catholic Church,Inland Town,Onitsha,Rev Fr Johnbosco Okafor hailed the Okolo family for their exemplary roles in the service of the church and humanity.
According to Fr Johnbosco,it was gratifying to note that the late Sir Fredrick Okolo held unto his Catholic faith until his last days adding that he has given a good account of himself before humanity and now,has gone to rest in the bosom of the Lord.
Fr Okafor charged his children and others he left behind to continue from where their father stopped and be a leading light for others to follow.
He condoled the family saying that at 94 years,their father has been called to the bossom of the Lord to rest from all the vagaries of life on earth.
In his remarks,the Grand Knight of the Knights of St Mulumba,St Mary’s Subcouncil Onitsha,Sir Chike Nwagbologu condoled with the family and urged them to take to the footsteps of their late father.
One of the highlights was handing over the sword of the late Sir Frederick to his son Peter by the Grand Knight,Sir Chike Nwagbologu.
