The Parish Priest of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Fegge Onitsha, Rev Fr Sampson Ogbuebuna has referenced the Ascension of Jesus into heaven in reminding parishioners that their stay on earth is transient.Reflecting on, ‘This World Is Not Our Home’ at the first Mass of Ascension Thursday, 9th May 2024, which he celebrated in his parish, the priest maintained that no power can keep anyone from leaving the planet when their time comes.
He charged participants to make the best of their opportunity on earth so that they will join Jesus at the right hand of the Father after their earthly sojourn.“Jesus went back home today.”
The priest told them. “He left His Beloved Blessed Mother and the apostles despite their closeness. No matter your power, no matter who you are, no matter who you think you are, no matter your financial muscle, no matter your academic degrees, no matter your righteousness, you will leave this world one day.
So, you will leave everything you have labored for in this world when the time comes. When that time comes, no power can hold you back. Know it today that one day, you will leave this world.”“Let us always have this at the back of our minds.
When this consciousness is in you and I it will help us to be always conscious of how we live our lives – at least it will make us not to hold tight to the things of the world.”“When the disciples obeyed Him, Jesus confirmed their works with signs, wonders and miracles. Let us obey His commandment.
When you work as directs you, He will go with you and confirm your ministry, confirm your business, confirm your marriage, and confirm your work. No one will destroy your success because He is following.”“Jesus ascended and is seated at the right hand of God. When your time comes where will you sit? At the right hand or at the left hand of God? He has gone to prepare a place for those who obey Him.”
