The Parish Priest of St Enda’s Parish, Bassawa, Zaria, Rev. Fr. Felix Fidson Mary Zakari has assured the faithful that Jesus can set them free from every form of bondage. Delivering the homily during a Mass he celebrated at Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Monday, October 27, 2025, the priest leaned on the Gospel reading in which Jesus healed a woman who was bent by infirmities for eighteen, in disclosing that Jesus is not happy to see people suffer.
He explained that Jesus was moved by compassion towards the infirmed, despite the opposition from those who accused Him of healing on a Sabbath Day, linking that God is neither happy to see them suffer nor for them to continue living in bondage. He implored them to believe in God, as they make every effort to serve Him.
“We have a God who can attend to our needs.” He told them. “He has the power to free us from whatever form of slavery, and from whatever has chained us. So, no matter what you have been passing through, no matter how bad the situation has been, no matter how the devil has defined you, you can be loosed – that chain can be broken.”
