Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, reiterated his administration’s dedication to providing essential services in areas like health and education, with a particular focus on the less privileged in society. The governor made these remarks during a mass held at St. Patrick Cathedral, Awka.
Governor Soludo expressed gratitude for the nation’s blessings, even in the face of challenges, and outlined his plans to improve the lives of impoverished residents of the state. He stressed the importance of affording children from less privileged backgrounds the same opportunities as those from wealthier families, emphasizing their right to a place in society.
He stated, “The children of the poor cannot attend the schools built by the church, but we are determined in Anambra for it to be a liveable and compassionate society, and we are going to break the dynasty of poverty in the state.” He announced forthcoming initiatives to support mission schools and provide grants to encourage education, especially in public schools, as a primary government responsibility.
Governor Soludo outlined his vision for children from all backgrounds to attend the same schools, learn from the same teachers, and have equal opportunities for progress in life and contributions to society. He encouraged the congregation to be wary of fake news circulated by critics, which can cause fear and panic.
During the mass, the presiding priest, Rev. Fr. Charles Ndubuisi, described Nigeria as afflicted by corruption and in need of healing. Despite this, he expressed hope that the country would one day regain its pride as a leading African nation. He also expressed confidence in Governor Soludo’s vision of creating a prosperous and livable homeland, pledging the church’s continued support for this vision.
