In a bid to enhance the educational sector in Benue State, Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia has appointed Sir Paul Chukwuma, an esteemed educationist from Anambra State, as the Chairman of the Governing Council and Pro-Chancellor of Benue State University.
The appointment, announced on Monday, aims to utilize Chukwuma’s vast experience in education to elevate the university’s standards. Chukwuma also serves as the Pro-Chancellor of Olivia University in Bujumbura, the capital of Burundi.
In addition to Chukwuma’s appointment, Governor Alia named chairpersons for the governing councils of other higher institutions in the state:
- Dr. Damian Anyam for Benue State Polytechnic
- Prof. George-Genyi for College of Education, Oju
- Prof. Uketor Gabriel Moti for College of Education, Katsina-ala
- Prof. Okpe O. Okpe for Akawe Torkula Polytechnic
- Dr. Bern Vangerwua for College of Health Technology, Agasha
- Dr. Victoria Pila for Akperan Orshi Polytechnic, Yandev
Governor Alia expressed confidence in the appointees’ abilities to improve the institutions, citing their extensive experience. The appointments are effective immediately, with the governor urging the new leaders to excel in their roles.
This strategic move is expected to significantly bolster the state’s educational structure and Chukwuma’s appointment is seen as a reflective of his expertise and reputation in the education sector.
