There was excitement at the Onitsha Archdiocesan Education Commission during the week as News filtered in that one of the student beneficiaries of Archbishop Valerian Okeke Scholarship Scheme.Miss Mmesoma Obidiegwu emerged the best graduating student at the Veritas University Abuja.
Reacting in his office on Thursday,the Onitsha Archdiocesan Education Secretary,Very Rev Fr Dr Paschal Onwugbenu said he was not surprised at the News because according to him,all the beneficiaries have been giving good account of themselves.
Fr Onwugbenu said their benefactor,the Archbishop of Onitsha,Most Rev Valerian Okeke,believed in excellence and is committed to promoting it by giving scholarships to deserving students.
He said that the avowed desire of the Archbishop to establish the Shanahan University, Onitsha was to promote excellence as exemplified in the likes of Miss Mmesoma Obidiegwu.
Details of Miss Mmesoma scores as released by the Education Commission showed that she studied Biochemistry with a score of CPGS 4.98 out of 5.0.
Congratulatory messages have been streaming to Mmesoma from the Commission while other students have been urged to emulate her and others who have been doing well in their studies.
