Encomiums poured in on Sunday, March 9, 2025, as Mr. Francis Ezejiofor, the current catechist of Most Holy Name of Mary Parish, Abatete, celebrated his 90th birthday.
The vibrant and active Catechist Ezejiofor, who spoke to Trinitas Newspaper correspondent shortly after the Holy Mass, expressed gratitude to God for elongating his life and for endowing him with strong and sound health.
He disclosed that he was appointed as the catechist of the parish 32 years ago, precisely in 1993, thanking God for the grace in serving the church for such a lengthy time without breaking down or being discouraged, attributing it to God’s grace.
Catechist Ezejiofor thanked the current parish priest, Rev. Fr. Ernest Esikaikwu, and past parish priests for their encouragement and support, which made his job as catechist easy. He prayed God to bless them abundantly.
He also appreciated his fellow parishioners, his wife, Mrs. Bridget Ezejiofor, and family members for their great support and prayers, pledging to continue serving the church in his nineties until God says otherwise.
Parishioners who spoke to the press while congratulating the celebrant described him as a hardworking, dedicated, and jovial catechist who is sacrificing a lot towards the propagation of the gospel and conversion of souls.
Trinitas Newspaper observed that at 90, Catechist Francis Ezejiofor is working hard with full energy, as someone in their 30s, a development indicating special grace of God in his life.
