Torrents of encomiums poured in recently as the parish catechist of St Patrick’s Church Odekpe Mr Mike Mary Ekwuobi celebrated 25 years of service in the Lord ‘s vineyard.
The silver jubilee celebration which took place at St Patrick’s church premises Odekpe, attracted presence of priests, religious, family members and many other guests.
Preaching during the Mass that kick started the event, Fr Ignatius Nwosu described jubilee as time of thanksgiving. He described the celebrant as hardworking catechist who is committed to his primary assignment, explaining that his sincere dedication to duty attracted him and many others to occasion.
The parish priest Rev Fr Philip Nwafor while congratulating Catechist Ekwuobi described him as a good church teacher who is well grounded in doctrines of the church and impacting same on the faithful.
Also, a former parish priest of St Patrick’s Odekpe Fr Patrick Ezeifedi while hailing the Catechist described him as a great evangelist and a role model for the people of God both in words and action. “You are a bulldozer and a path-finder in spreading of the gospel in Odekpe town and Ogbaru in general, adding that the history of Catholism in Odekpe cannot be complete with your name. Without mincing words, you are devoted, hardworking, transparent and committed catechist,” Fr Ezeifedi asserted.
The celebrant in his remarks appreciated the priests and other guests for identifying with him. He expressed gratitude to God for the grace of serving in His vineyard for past twenty five years, pledging to make more impact in years to come. In a special way he thanked his darling wife Mrs Dorothy Obianuju Ekwuobi for her unflinching support that made his catechist work easier.
