Evang. David Okwori of the Catholic Archdiocese of Kaduna has called on parishioners and participants, especially the youth attending the ongoing parish revival at St. Mary’s Parish, Samaru Zaria, to develop their talents for use when needed.
Speaking on “Think Big, But Do Not Neglect Your Little Beginning,” the minister asserted that some people have missed opportunities in life because they were either ill-prepared or not prepared at all. He encouraged them to work on their mindset and to start working with the available opportunities around them, disclosing that such little beginnings may offer them the experiences they need for the next stage of their career.
“Many of us are not ready for opportunities,” the anchor observed. “Many of us have no plan. Many of us do not know what we need. They take anything that comes their way. Most of us have limited ourselves to a certain level. They do not see the mightiness of God. They have narrowed their thinking. You need God’s wisdom to be rich. God works with what you have. He worked with the stick in the hand of Moses. If you can believe the threats from principalities and powers of darkness, why not believe what God can do with you?”
“Think like Christ. Believe in God and believe in yourself. God wants to see the sincerity of your heart and your love for Him – even if you are still struggling. He will take you there, as long as you keep walking with Him. One blessing from Him can take care of all that you have lost in your whole life. The mighty hand of God is capable of taking you to where you never imagined. The problem is that we have not opened our minds.”
“Be committed to the good work you are doing with the whole of your heart. Pursue your talent. It will speak for you one day. Nobody will employ you if you have no value. Nobody will employ you if you have nothing to give. Equip yourself. Add value to yourself. Specialize in your skills. Package well and give the kind of service that others do not give. The king picked Daniel because he distinguished himself. There must be an opportunity to express what you have.”
Evang. David reminded them that following Christ does not immunize one from obstacles and challenges of life. He charged them to remain focused on their goals like Joseph, so that they may fulfill the plan of God for their lives.
