A Catholic Priest Rev Fr Samuel Nwankwo has admonished traders to discharge their businesses with the fear of God and not to take advantage of the present hardship in the country to exploit vulnerable people.
Rev Fr Nwankwo, who is an Associate Rector of the Basilica made the remark as part of his homily when members of the Anambra State Markets Traders Association(ASMATA)attended a Thanksgiving Mass at the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity,Onitsha last Sunday.
Fr Nwankwo commended the leadership and members of the Association for putting God in their agenda and expressed hope that the traders would practicalise their actions by discharging their businesses with the fear of God and avoid exploitation and unnecessary cheating and profiteering in the markets.”Let this thanksgiving reflect in your conducts and may God continue to bless your efforts”,Fr Nwankwo prayed.
Fr Nwankwo had earlier reflected on teachings of the Gospel which spoke about the reality and inescapability of death in the life of mankind.
According to him, death is a reality no one,no matter how Holy, can escape.
He spoke on the need for Christians to prepare for death at any time since no one knows when it would come.
“Death is sweet only when we prepare for it.
“Let us begin to live not as people trying to avoid death but as people who look up to death as an opportunity to start enjoying a better life”,Fr
Nwankwo admonished.
The Special Adviser to the Governor of Anambra State on Markets,Sir Hon Evarist Uba while addressing the traders after the Mass, thanked the ASMATA Executive led by their President General, Chief Hon. Humphrey Anuna for organising the thanksgiving.According to Sir Evarist, there is ample evidence that Gov Soludo was keeping to his promise of making Anambra the Dubai-Taiwan of Africa with his achievements in all sectors of the economy.
Also, the President General of ASMATA,Chief Humphrey Anuna in his speech, acknowledged the achievements of Governor Soludo and hailed him for creating enabling environment for trade and commerce to flourish in the state.
