The Catholic Church in Nigeria has called on media practitioners to use their platforms to promote hope, truth, and moral clarity.
Rev. Fr. Michael Banjo, Secretary General of the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN), made the appeal during the 5th annual Media Parley in Abuja.
He emphasized the crucial role media practitioners play in shaping the country’s narrative and promoting values that uphold the common good.
Rev. Fr. Banjo encouraged them to reject misinformation, fake news, and sycophancy, instead being the voice of the poor, marginalized, and unheard.
The Church official urged media practitioners to fill their platforms with hope, promoting truth and fostering a sense of community and responsibility.
He reminded them that they are not just reporters, but custodians of truth and essential partners in Nigeria’s moral renewal.
The 2025 Media Parley brought together over 41 media outfits to appreciate and interact with the press, encouraging them in their work and services to the Church and the nation.
