The Chief Shepherd of the Catholic Diocese of Zaria, Most Rev. Dr. Habila Tyiakonaboi Daboh has called on newly confirmed members of the Church to show forth the fruits of their new life in Christ. The bishop was on a pastoral visit to St Mary’s Catholic Church, Samaru Zaria, Sunday, March 16, 2025, where he confirmed over 120 candidates.
Before they were confirmed, His Lordship reoriented and reminded them of their soon-to-change status as soldiers of Christ, and that they would receive the Holy Spirit in a special way – by the reason of the conferment of the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Bishop Daboh catechized, “You are going to be the soldiers of Christ. You will receive the Holy Spirit. When you receive the Holy Spirit, it means God has a special indwelling in you. And so you are no longer that Ibrahim, you are no longer that Peter, you are no longer that Emmanuel, you have been changed. You are a transformed person. Let people see God in you, in whatever you do!”
Bishop Daboh hinged on the day’s Gospel reading on the Transfiguration of Jesus in charging the faithful to transform their lives and to serve God better.
