The Anambra state governorship aspirant for 2025 election on the platform of Labour Party, Chief Val Ozigbo last Friday , attributed the current hardship rocking Nigerian masses to bad leadership .
Ozigbo who spoke to Trinitas Newspaper during his visit to Blessed Iwene Tansi parish, Iba Pope, Awada, stated that insecurity, bad roads, rising fuel prices, and a high dollar exchange rate are all symptoms of bad leadership .
” In essence,
we need leaders who will promote accountability, transparency, and consequences for wrongdoing.
According to him, current hardship coupled with the alarming rate of crimes, such as banditry, kidnapping etc are glaring evidence of bad leadership.
” To change the current narrative, we must address the root cause of Nigeria’s challenges embedded in poor leadership.
Quality leadership is the key to transforming Nigeria’s narrative. It’s time for those in power to take responsibility and create an environment where citizens can thrive. The erosion of the rule of law has led to a transactional mindset, rather than a purpose-driven society. Democracy is about choosing leaders who truly represent the people’s interests.
In aspect of accountability leaders must be held accountable for their actions, ensuring that institutions like the judiciary and INEC operate with integrity.
We need to adopt a consequence culture , so that when leaders do wrong, they should face consequences; when they do right, they should be celebrated.
Let us encourage a culture that prioritizes the well-being of citizens, rather than personal gain.
By focusing on quality leadership, we can build a Nigeria where citizens are empowered, and the country reaches its full potential. It’s time to stop treating symptoms and address the root cause of our challenges. Let’s work towards a brighter future for all Nigerians.”
