The Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN) leadership, led by Secretary General Very Rev. Fr. Michael Banjo, paid a courtesy visit to Archbishop Ignatius Ayau Kaigama of Abuja on February 13, 2025.
The visit aimed to introduce the new leadership and seek the Archbishop’s blessing.
Archbishop Kaigama congratulated the new leadership and emphasized the importance of their roles in animating, mobilizing, and enlightening the Catholic Church in Nigeria.
He urged the CSN management to be watchdogs, scrutinizing and responding to societal issues, and to provide authentic information about the Church.
The Archbishop highlighted the need for the CSN to build data and provide statistics and relevant information about the Church in Nigeria.
He encouraged the new leadership to work in harmony, promoting unity and collaboration with the Archdiocese.
The visit was part of Fr. Banjo’s introductory tour, aimed at fostering collaboration and building relationships with key stakeholders.
Accompanying him were the new Director of the Department for Church and Society, Fr. Peter Babangida Audu, who also serves as the Executive Secretary of Caritas Nigeria, as well as the Director of the Department for Mission and Dialogue, Fr. Lawrence Emehel, and the Director of the Department for Pastoral Affairs, Fr. Augustine Fasiku.
