Umuoba Anam community was filled with jubilation as a longstanding conflict between the community and the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) was resolved, leading to the reconnection of the community to the national power grid. Dr. Anselm Onuorah, the Transition Committee Chairman of Anambra East Local Government Area, played a pivotal role in bringing an end to the dispute.
The community had been without electricity for over five years due to unresolved issues with the EEDC. Since assuming office as the TC Chairman of Anambra East, Dr. Onuorah took steps to mediate the matter, resulting in a mutually agreeable resolution. As a result, Umuoba Anam once again had access to electric power.
Dr. Onuorah expressed his gratitude to all those involved in the successful resolution of the issue. He emphasized the importance of electric power to economic development and urged the community to safeguard EEDC facilities. He encouraged regular payment of bills and affirmed his commitment to implementing Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s people-centered policies.
Dr. Onuorah revealed ongoing efforts to transition the community from estimated billing to prepaid meters for improved efficiency. He called for transparency and honesty in the collection of electric bills to foster trust.
Mr. Nonso Anizor, the Councilor representing Umuoba Anam Ward, also expressed his happiness at the restoration of electric power to the community. He thanked Dr. Onuorah for his determination in resolving the issue.
Chief Victor Morba, the President General of Umuoba Anam Development Union, hailed the return of electric power to the community after a prolonged period. He lauded Dr. Onuorah’s instrumental role in facilitating the reconnection and urged residents to consistently pay their bills and support Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration.
