The Catholic Bishop of Zaria, Most Rev. Dr. George Daboh, recently encouraged parents to allow their children to join the Holy Childhood Association.
Bishop Daboh made this call during his first pastoral visit to St. Joseph’s Church, Hayin Dan Yaro, Samaru Zaria, on Sunday, January 12, 2025.
His Lordship reminded parents that children are the future of the Church. He urged them to “encourage your children to join the Holy Childhood Association. This is the Church of tomorrow. Bring them here. Let them learn from the root, so that they will grow together, so that they will grow in the faith, and so that they will have the capacity to defend the Church, wherever they find themselves.”
Bishop Daboh congratulated the new communicants and couples whose marriages were blessed during the Mass. He encouraged those who had not yet blessed their marriage in the Church to work towards it, so that their marriages may be blessed during his future pastoral visit to the Mother Parish, St. Mary’s Samaru.
During the visit, Bishop Daboh administered the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist to seventeen candidates and the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony to four couples.
The bishop expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to visit; the Dean, Very Rev. Fr. Prof. Peter Bauna Tanko, for his patience and dedication to establishing the outstation of St. Mary’s Parish, Samaru; the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Augustine Isek, and his assistant, Rev. Fr. Gabriel Garaje, for organizing the Mass; and both founding and current members of the Church for their resources and efforts.
