The Chief Medical Director of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku Awka, Dr. Joe Akabuike, has decried the nineteen point five million Naira monthly bills by the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC, saying that the hospital cannot afford to pay it.
Dr. Akabuike who stated that Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s investment in the health sector had started yielding positive results, maintained that the administration of Governor Soludo had given maximum attention to the health needs of Ndi Anambra.
He commended the Governor for his massive support and intervention in both the primary, secondary and tertiary health institutions in the state, describing it as a step in the right direction.
According to Dr. Akabuike, the ongoing construction and renovation of general hospitals, renovation of primary healthcare centres in all the three hundred and twenty-six electoral wards in the state, as well as the support given to Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, were indications that Governor Soludo had given serious priority to the health needs of the residents of the state.
The Chief Medical Director made it clear that Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital had been going through comprehensive transformation both in infrastructure and service delivery under the administration of Governor Soludo.
He listed Service Compact with all Nigerians, SERVICOM, that allowed patients to tell how they were treated in the hospital; E-medicine which allows for patients to see medical professionals without stress; construction of Consultant Lounge; renovation of Dental Department; electrification of the hospital which brightens the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital environment in the night for effective service delivery; among others as some of the interventions in the hospital under his leadership.
Dr. Akabuike also commended Governor Soludo for the employment of about one thousand health workers, especially those posted in the Primary Healthcare Centres, as one of the ways to make health care service delivery accessible and affordable to Ndi Anambra.
