The people of Idemili North and South federal Constituency on Wednesday, April 3rd, 2024 rained accolades on their representative Hon. Uchenna Harris Okonkwo over his giant strides, community transformation and commissioning of constituency in less than one year in office.
The constituents poured the accolades during a town hall meeting convened by the law maker at Paradise regain Hotel, Ogidi, Idemili North.
They expressed unalloyed gratitude to the legislator for the new Constituency office that was commissioned and opened same day.
Speaking at the meeting, Hon Uchenna Okonkwo chronicled and highlighted his achievements as their representative for the past couple of months.
Some of the feats as he disclosed include training and empowering of Idemili women and youth on renewable energy, purchasing of JAMB forms for over 200 Idemili North and South students, commencement of light up Idemili project with Solar powered street lights which are currently being installed at strategic places in Idemili community markets, donation of shuttle bus to Idemili South LGA to ease transportation challenges, sharing of food materials including four thousand bags of rice to constituents during last Christmas among other things.
Speaking on his legislative work, he disclosed the substantive bills he sponsored which have passed the first reading and they include Federal college of Entrepreneurship and skill acquisition, Ogidi, Anambra state, Federal Medical center Act, Awka Etiti, Federal Polytechnic Act Oba, Nigerian police training college Umuoji and others.
He urged the constituents to always make use of the Constituency office as that provides them an easy access to communicate him and the federal government on issues that needed an attention and solution.
Speaking at the event, the state chairman, Labour party Chief Ugochukwu Emeh in his speech eulogized Hon Uche Okonkwo for performing marvelously in less than one year in office, stating that by his bold steps in attracting dividends of democracy to the communities in his Constituency, the people of Idemili North and South stand to benefit more within four years of his representation.
He urged the constituents to give the lawmaker every support he needed to excel in his legislative job.
Also, Labour party stall wart, Chief Val Ozigbo in his contribution hailed Hon. Uchenna Okonkwo for achieving much within few months in office, stating it is a testimony that labour party products in the governance are really doing well. He urged the people of the Constituency especially the Labour party faithful to remain united and committed to ensure that the party produces him as the next governor of Anambra state .
Also, the lawmaker representing Idemili North Constituency in Anambra state House of assembly Hon. Kingsley Azubuike Udemezue in his contribution congratulated Hon Uchenna Okonkwo for his sincere commitment in attracting dividends of democracy to his Constituency, enjoining the people of Idemili North and South not to relent in supporting their federal lawmaker.
President General Ideani town Engr. Paul Chukwuemeka Okoye and his Oraukwu counterpart Mr S. Onwuasoanya in their separate remarks expressed satisfaction over Hon Okonkwo’s feats within few months in office, urging him to sustain the tempo. The duo on behalf of their communities pledged their continual support to the lawmaker.
All the constituents who participated in the town hall meeting went home with bags loaded with food materials.
