The Chaplain of Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH) Shika Zaria Rev Fr Nehemiah Nkom celebrated the Mass of the Presentation of the Lord, in Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish, Friday, 2nd February 2024. There he explained that Jesus’ parents, Joseph and Mary had no lamb to present at His Presentation in the Temple because Jesus Himself was the Sacrificial Lamb who was destined to save man from sin.His words, “Most of what we practice in Christianity is borrowed from the Jewish tradition.
That was why the parents of Jesus practiced what they were supposed to practice according to their tradition. His parents never had a lamb to present so they presented two turtle doves. They had no lamb to present in the Temple during His own Presentation because Jesus is the Sacrificial Lamb. He was destined to save you and I. Today we hear Simeon say ‘at last Oh Powerful Master, my eyes have seen your salvation.
The light has come to enlighten the Gentiles.’ That Light has come in the Person of Jesus. We all share in that Light Jesus gave us during our baptism. He has come so that the Light will continue to shine.”
