In a wonderful convergence of familial ties and spiritual joy, Peter Obi, former Anambra State governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, attended the Blessed Iwene Tansi Major Seminary Feast Day. This memorable occasion was especially meaningful because Peter Obi’s elder brother, Rev Fr Fabian Obi, is currently the rector of the seminary, offering a memorable meeting point for both brothers.
The Blessed Iwene Tansi Major Seminary Family commemorated its Patronal Feast Day with a solemn mass led by Most Rev. Ernest Obodo, the auxiliary bishop of Enugu Diocese. During his excellent homily, Bishop Obodo encouraged the faithful, especially the seminarians and priests, to draw inspiration from the holy life of Blessed Cyprain Iwene Tansi, the seminary’s patron saint.
He recommended Elizabeth Isichei’s book “Entirely for Christ,” which is a comprehensive look into Blessed Cyprian Michael Iwene Tansi’s life, as an excellent resource for improving one’s spirituality.
Following the uplifting Holy Mass, the festivities continued on the seminary grounds, transforming into a lively gathering of dignitaries.
The seminary’s field, adorned with vibrant decorations, became a focal point for cultural exchange and spiritual reflection. Dignitaries from diverse facets of society contributed to the inclusive and festive ambiance, turning the event into not only a religious observance but also a platform for fostering unity and cultural appreciation.
Notably, Peter Obi’s elder sister, Rev. Sr. Martina Obi, also a religious, symbolizes the family’s well-cultured and Catholic roots.
