Senator Victor Umeh, representing Anambra Central Senatorial Zone, has called for free, fair, and credible elections in the 2027 general elections.
The lawmaker made the call while speaking with journalists at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka Campus.
According to Senator Umeh, Nigerians deserve quality representation and leaders across all tiers of government. He rejected all forms of machinations aimed at disenfranchising voters and demanded that the 2027 polls be devoid of rigging, electoral horse trading, political gangsterism, and intimidation of the masses.
The Senator urged politicians to shun desperation and the “do-or-die” approach to politics.
“For me, if the Nigerian electorate decide that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should be allowed to go for a second term in 2027, so be it. But it must be under a free, fair, and credible election where voters are allowed to make that choice through the ballot box,” he said.
He stressed that an enabling environment must be created for citizens to exercise their franchise without rancour, political intimidation, guile, vote buying, and other electoral malpractices.
In all, Chief Umeh is canvassing for a 2027 general election that will be free, fair, and credible, without political interference or any negative machinations against the Nigerian electorate.
