Bigard Memorial Seminary, Enugu, has announced the appointment of Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Aloysius Ezeoba as its new Rector, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s history as he prepares to assume office as the 22nd Rector of the prestigious seminary.
A priest of the Catholic Diocese of Enugu, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Ezeoba was born on 24 April 1978 and was ordained to the priesthood on 7 July 2007. Over the years, he has distinguished himself through dedicated service to priestly formation and academic excellence, particularly within Bigard Memorial Seminary, where he has held several important academic and administrative positions.
Before his appointment, Fr. Ezeoba served in various capacities at the seminary, including as Assistant Head of the Department of Philosophy and Acting Head of the Department of Philosophy. He has also contributed significantly to intellectual formation as a lecturer in Religion and Philosophy, and currently serves as a lecturer in the Department of Philosophy at Bigard Memorial Seminary, Enugu.
Highly accomplished in academics, the Rector-designate possesses an impressive educational background. His qualifications include a Bachelor of Philosophy (B.Phil) Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy (B.A.), Bachelor of Theology in Divinity (B.Th), Master of Arts in Philosophy, Master of Arts in Religion, an Integrated Licence in Philosophy, and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Philosophy, which he obtained in 2018 from the Pontifical Urban University, Rome.
His appointment is expected to usher in a new phase of leadership at Bigard Memorial Seminary, an institution renowned for the formation of priests and religious leaders across Nigeria and beyond. As he takes up the responsibility of steering the seminary’s spiritual, intellectual, and human formation programmes, many have expressed optimism about the future direction of the institution under his leadership.
The seminary community and well-wishers have extended prayers and goodwill to Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Ezeoba as he begins this new chapter, expressing hope for continued growth, excellence, and progress at Bigard Memorial Seminary, Enugu, Nigeria.
