The Chief Shepherd of Onitsha Archdiocese, His Grace Most Rev. Valerian Okeke, has commended the Fegge Catholic community for building a church named St. Benedict, stating that it will become a pilgrimage and miracle center after completion.
The prelate made the commendation during his pastoral visit to the parish on Sunday, August 31, 2025.
Reflecting on the life and times of St. Benedict, the Archbishop described the saint as a great man of prayer and prophet whose holy life was infectious.
He disclosed that St. Benedict was the one who introduced formal education through his monastery, and that all Catholic monasteries today adopted rules established by St. Benedict’s monastery.
According to him, God used St. Benedict to perform miracles, and after his death, Christians continued to receive God’s miracles through his intercession.

The Archbishop described the St. Benedict church under construction as a Holy land that will become a pilgrimage and miracle center after completion, where Christians can visit, pray, and receive God’s miracles through the intercession of St. Benedict.
He enjoined the parishioners to see themselves as people of miracle and to seek God’s help through the intercession of St. Benedict.
The parish priest, Fr. Cosmas Muodum, thanked the Archbishop for paying the visit and felicitated him on his 22 years as the Archbishop of Onitsha.
He also appreciated the parishioners for their support and cooperation.
The Parish CMO chairman, Mr. Hypolite Nwakaile, and the parish CWO president, Mrs. Onyinyechukwu Okonta, expressed elation over the visit and rained accolades on the Archbishop for posting Fr. Cosmas Muodum as their parish priest.
They described Fr. Muodum as a hardworking priest who is developing the parish with all his strength and sincerity of purpose.
