It was a day filled with joy and happiness as members of the clergy, religious and lay faithful of the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity,Onitsha,trooped out in their numbers to celebrate their patron feast day,the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity on Sunday.
The colourful event started with a thanksgiving Mass which was followed by a variety of events at the Basilica Square.The events included debate completions by various schools,March past which included school pupils and students,teachers,priests and religious,CMO and CWO members as well as cultural dances.
Earlier in his homily,Rector of the Basilica,Rev Fr JohnBosco Ezika who presided over the Mass said the the mystery of the Trinity was beyond human understanding.
According to him,those christians born and baptized have been initiated into the spirit of God and the Trinity such that whenever you do the sign of the cross,you are affirming the three persons in one God.
Trinity fr JohnBosco said,is the central mystery of our faith and the faithful should see the unity of the Trinity as a point of reference and therefore attune their spiritual lives to the unity of the Trinity.
“While we celebrate the Trinity Feast,we should try and be united in our families by learning from the doctrine of the Trinity,”fr JohnBosco said.
Prizes were given to various groups and individuals who won laurels in various activities of the day.
